Fixed Wireless Broadband has generally been known as a solution for users that want broadband service in remote areas. Traditionally speeds of around 30-100Mbps could be achieved. New radio frequencies now offer Gigabit Plus speeds using 60Ghz radio frequencies. Installation of a small receiver 500m-8Km from our mast points, can deliver incredible speeds, ultra-low latency and 99.99% uptime in most cases.
mmW Broadband now has a compelling case, to come to the masses, covering rural areas and urban areas where fibre is difficult to deliver or is taking too much time.
Depending on how far you are from our delivery point, will determine the kind of radio receiver we will install. Most are very discrete with some looking like CCTV cameras and others looking like outdoor lights.
An Installation normal takes 1/2 day depending on cable run. Our range of Pro plans include the cost of equipment and installation and is highly recommended as full install can be quite costly.
Once the radio is mounted, we run Cat5e or Cat6 cable, similar to the kind you would use for an everyday computer. This is done discreetly so the aesthetics of the property are maintained.
The radio is then powered up with a PoE (Power over Ethernet) injector and we then connect your router.
Gbps
Radio is different to fibre and copper broadband as it can be affected by weather, however our radios all have long distance backups. We guarantee 99% of your purchased speed and 100Mbps guaranteed in weather conditions.
Our standard contract terms are 24 months for residential customers.
We have an automated service portal. The portal allows you to put a ticket and our response times are guaranteed to be within 2-4hrs, but most likely within 20 minutes. You can also use the chat service. In the bottom right-hand corner of the website, you can see a chat log, click on this and if an operator is available, you can start a chat conversation or leave a message.
On the top right hand corner of the website, you will find a button saying “Network Update”. Click on the button and it will take you the support portal.
We offer a range of payment methods such as standing order, Direct Debit and Card Payments. You access to your online service portal at “mybilling.net”, the link for this can be found at the bottom of the website in the Support and Billing section.
Because latency is very low, wireless is ideal for gaming. Depending on how far you are from the receiver, will depend on how the latency could be affected with bad weather, but generally latency will only increase up to 30-50ms in real bad weather and longer distances.
Generally, an order will take around 7 working days, but on average installs are done within a couple of days from order. This could vary depending on stock availability.
